Ok, I can now write about what yesterday's business was all about. But quickly, since I have a flight to catch! Basically, I got picked for a fellowship I applied for back in January, sponsored by the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, which along with doing many, many other things, is the organization who publish Science magazine. The fellowship places scientist-larvae like myself with mass media outlets around the US to learn about scientific journalism. So, it's a big to-do. Yay. All I know thus far is that I'm placed with Scientific American. They are, likewise, a big to-do. It's taking place during the summer, but I don't have specific dates on hand just yet. I will post more details as they come along. Right now, that e-mail summarizes it.

I'm sure my mastery of the English language, complete with repeated usage of phrases like "big to-do" helped me with this.

Did I mention I have I flight coming up? And that I woke up at 3AM to do laundry and pack? I am tired. And harried. But writing anyway.

This weekend is the Experimental Biology conference in Washington DC, so I'll be gone 'til Tuesday evening. This conference is also a big to-do; usually about 15,000 people from different groups like the American Physiological Society (APS, my home team) and the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET... lots of cool neuro. related stuff coming out of their camp, too.)

I'm staying at this ridiculously nice hotel, near Dupont Circle, for very cheap. See?

I'm also going to catch up with Oglethorpe friend Blake (Stabler... a belated birthday shout-out to him!) and my first Vandy roommate Amy (Ard) and almost-was-like-my-roommate-too-back-in-the-day Michael (Waller). They're engaged, by the way! Yay!

"Big to-do"s all around.

Have a good weekend. I'll try to write/check email, but likely will not get the chance.
