I was (really!) on my way (web-wise) to look up some papers when I instead ended up learning about the phenomenon of "falling" bubbles in beer, as shown here. It's an interesting demonstration, and just in time for St. Patty's Day celebrations (coincidence? I think not.)
I'm trying to think of ways to make my current work involve beer (Guinness, specifically) but am at a loss. Therefore, I've decided to start a side project this evening. Anyone want to sponsor my research?
Quoting one of the researchers (somewhat out of context, via the Stanford press release): "...anyone that goes into a pub and orders a pint of Guinness is a scientist."
I'll have to keep that one in mind.
